The Christmas 2011 stamps feature some of the most notable artistic representations of The Nativity by world famous artists. By popular demand we have featured a religious theme this year and the works are featured by the following artists: Charles Le Brun (24 February 1619 – 22 February 1690) a French painter and art theorist, one of the dominant artists in 17th-century France; Lorenzo Lotto (c. 1480 – 1556) a Northern Italian painter draughtsman and illustrator, traditionally placed in the Venetian school who painted mainly altarpieces, religious subjects and portraits; Agnolo di Cosimo (November 17, 1503 – November 23, 1572), usually known as Il Bronzino, an Italian Mannerist painter from Florence; Gerard van Honthorst (November 4, 1592 – April 27, 1656), a Dutch Golden Age painter from Utrecht and Giorgione (born Giorgio Barbarelli da Castelfranco; c. 1477/8 – 1510) an Italian painter of the High Renaissance in Venice known for the elusive poetic quality of his work.
